Flushing Town Hall Annual Gala

Me and the hubz were invited to go to attend the Flushing Town Hall Annual Gala to join Cascon Bakery. There were many food vendors - London Lennies, Bourbon Street, a couple of restaurants from Queens Crossing. GOOD GOOD FOOD. I think I shouldn't have stood next to the cheesecakes all night because I kept popping the mini's in my mouth! ARGH! I have such a soft spot for good cheesecake. Sigh... Thank God the hubz was there to stop me because I could've made a REAL pig out of myself...
AND... I took a picture with Mrs. Barnes from London Lennies! What a NICE NICE lady. ^_^ And Christ! She looks SO young! I said "Are you sure you're 80?..." I KNOW she was using pearl cream. She has to have!! What awesome awesome people. I befriended her on facebook! HaHaHA! <3

Cupcake/Raffle Party and London Lennie's 50th Anniversary Cake

I FINALLY gave out the raffle prize winners their cakes at my little cupcake party held @ White Collections. And thank you again Jenny for all your help. ^_^

I made mini cheesecake cupcakes (apple and strawberry) and a bunch of regular cupcakes - lemon with cream cheese, carrot with italian buttercream, chocolate with oreo cookies and cream frosting, s'mores and french vanilla with coffee frosting.

And of course I made specialty cupcakes: 1 was a child theme cupcake (Hello Kitty and Kerope) and 1 was a classical shower or wedding specialty cupcake with flowers/pearls.

As far as the cake raffle, I made 3 specialty cakes - one was an oversized cupcake sitting on a cherry pie, one was a shoe sitting on top of a shoebox and 1 was a zebra patterned handbag.

A couple of days later, I had the BIG CAKE for London Lennie's 50th Anniversary. At first I thought I was going to do a cake just as a showpiece. Nothing big. Maybe a couple of lobsters and fish? Boy, did I have that all wrong. The restaurant owner wanted a cake to represent their 50 years of service as well as the owner's mother's 80th birthday all combined into one. We couldn't figure out how we could combine the 2 so I showed them my 2-sided cake. They loved it! So on one side, they wanted the red-carpet themed cake with the front of their storefront and on the other side they wanted a "travel theme" because Mrs B. (the owner's mother) Looooooved traveling.

I was super stressed out over this cake because I wanted to impress everyone and because I didn't have enough time due to the raffle/cupcake party a couple of days prior but I was very pleased with the end product. ^_^

The cake sat on a rotating turntable.

On the travel side - I wanted to do air, land and water sitting on top of a luggage bag.

London Lennies was transformed into a chic lounge atmosphere. They did a great job. It was absolutely stunning... I wish I could've stayed. ) :

Next big thing on my agenda - CITIFIELD...

Easter Basket Cake/Hollywood Hino's 30th Bday Cake/Bag Cake and more Present Cakes

Sorry all for not updating. It's been a crazy month with so many cakes... I don't know whether my business is picking up or if I'm just the flavor of the month. In either case, I'm happy everyone wants cakes from me. Keep it comin! HaHA! ^_^

Made an Easter/Spring themed basket for a 2nd birthday party. Client didn't really say much beyond the fact that she wanted it to be "easter" themed. She just wanted me to be "creative." So I thought I might do a basket-weave easter basket with a couple of eggs on top.

I was also asked to make a cake for Hollywood Hino. He was the runner up for the reality show "The Contender" and I met him once at Trinity Boxing Gym." I don't personally know him so I google'd him and asked for pictures. I wanted to do something that represented him, his life and his personality. Unfortunately, I imagined 2 totally different cakes in my head. One was a HOLLYWOOD theme - lights, glitter, films, red carpet... And the other was an African theme. The beauty of AFRICA - the horizon, geography... What's a girl to do?... do both of course! 1 on one side and 1 on the other. ^_^
So I gathered some pictures...

And started sketching...

I took out the boxing gloves on top and positioned the filmstrip differently because it was getting in the way of the african theme. I love it...

The weekend before I got an email from someone who needed a bag for her 30th birthday. She apparently had this bag that she adored and wanted me to replicate it and add some make up in front of the bag.

And of course my infamous present cakes...

A red one.

A purple one.

And a Tiffany & Co. one.

More cakes to come everyone. STAY TUNED! : D
